About the product
This book documents how smallholder farmers in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are protecting a diversity of biological species on their farmlands. The publication is based on the fieldwork of the United Nations University Project on People, Land Management and Environmental Change (PLEC) that studies how farmers use their knowledge and expertise to efficiently manage biodiversity and environmental resources. It shows the very real potential of learning from farmers and basing policy on tried and tested ways of managing complex agricultural systems.
