About the product

This report studies the effects of Depleted Uranium (DU) ammunition in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the conflict of 1994-95. Investigations at 14 sites revealed that DU was present at three of the sites more than seven years after the conflict. Soil, water, and air samples were tested, and for the first time in the Balkans, DU was found to be present in drinking water samples. The report recommends precautionary steps in the form of decontamination and clean-up. It goes on to suggest that further studies be undertaken in other regions where DU ammunition has been used.
