About the product

Since February 2002 UNEP has been working with the new transitional Afghanistan government to assess the post conflict environmental needs in the country. This report examines the environmental problems facing the country such as pollution, deforestation, land degradation, erosion and desertification, as well as problems with surface and ground water management. It also reveals the new government's intention to strengthen environmental protection and rehabilitation, a measure that could lead to new jobs in reforestation, water and waste management, renewable energies and nature tourism.
