This report is an outcome from the Indian Ocean Experiment (INDOEX), the first comprehensive study, carried out by the United Nations Environment Protection Agency (UNEP), on the South Asian haze and the impact it has on climate. The report documents the South Asian brown haze as observed by INDOEX and considers its potential impacts on climate, hydrological cycle, agriculture, visibility and human health. It also illustrates the connection and interaction between the climatic effects of air pollution and global warming, and calls for arresting further degradation of air quality in Asia.
