About the product
This publication provides the essential messages emanating from a series of evaluations that examined the impact of UN system support to national efforts to build capacity to eradicate poverty. While the delegations to the Economic and Social Council and to the General Assembly were the immediate audience of the evaluations, the nature, scope, and analysis of the results should interest a wider audience, particularly following the adoption of the Millennium Development Goals. The evaluations show that, despite the modest amount of resources available, the UN system support helps societies reduce poverty in a wide range of circumstances and indicates that the system has the potential to increase its support.
