About the product
The focus of the Latvia Human Development 1999 is on globalization and its impact on the country from the perspective of sustainable human development. The publication offers comprehensive review and analysis of important dimensions of the challenge of globalization for economic policy-making, for education, science and technological development as well as its implications for the culture and identity of Latvia and its population. It analyzes how globalization has manifested in Latvia, the risks and opportunities that are linked with it and how these opportunities could be used to achieve the goals of human development. The Report also seeks to provide a contribution to the development of Latvia's long-term strategy, which is necessary in order to promote the nation's economic, social and intellectual advancement in the 21st century. The publication also includes statistical tables and bibliography.
